City Exploration
One of the first impressions that will last from a Viennese visit, is the Ring Boulevard that circles the city with four kilometres of majestic street.
Beside its diverse cultural and architectural sights and wonders, Vienna also boasts with a rich offering of markets. There you can find assorted vegetables and other memorabilia. Of all markets, Naschmarkt is the most famous and boasts with a history dating back to 1715 when it was established.
For The Ears
The Vienna Opera House, also called Oper, has housed many famous composers and is still today considered to be one of the best opera houses in existence.
The city is known worldwide as a city of music, not the least since it has been home to Beethoven, Strauss, Mozart, and Schubert.
Karlskirche and Cathedrals
This is the largest baroque cathedral found north of the Alps. No more than 200 years old, it still stands as a monument of exquisite baroque architecture
Vienna has several architectural remnants from earlier centuries, when religion and state was intermixed. St. Stephen’s cathedral is an example, built in 1147 and today the most prominent telltale sign of the Vienna. It stands in the centre and is somewhat a marker of the hub of the city.
As a former imperial stronghold, Vienna has an abundance of cultural sights, ranging from mediaeval alleys to imperial buildings. Simply step out into the street, turn your head slightly, and you will be off to a day of endless discovery of the city’s history.
Castles and Palaces
The Hofburg used to be a mediaeval castle in past times but has been ransacked over time. It’s splendour in history is directly connected with the growth of the Habsburg power. After its decline, the castle suffered a decline in popularity and today only the chapel is still standing.
